Chairman Task Force on Housing Zaigham Rizvi has reiterated the government's commitment to construct five million houses in the country in five years.
Addressing a news conference along with other PTI leaders Mehmood-ur Rasheed and Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Zaigham Rizvi said they are working on institutional framework at a fast pace.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking keen interest in the project, and he has chaired ten meetings on the subject during the last sixty days.
He said not only in urban centers but houses will also be constructed in rural areas.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi said the government has prepared a comprehensive strategy for accomplishing the goal.
He said one million houses will be constructed every year. He said the government will provide people their own shelter helping them get rid of rent.
Speaking on the occasion, Mehmood-ur Rasheed said in the first phase in Punjab, the project will be implemented in Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lodhran, Chiniot, Bahawalnagar, and Jhelum districts as well as Muzaffarabad in AJK.
He said land is available for the project and private developers are taking interest in it. Mehmood-ur Rasheed said financial model of the projects is being prepared these days.
