ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says Pakistan can make progress if there is constitutional democracy in the country.
He was addressing a public gathering at Narowal today in connection with the groundbreaking ceremony of Narowal-Lahore-Sialkot Motorway link road.
The Prime Minister said the people's verdict will come in July this year in the upcoming general elections as to who should rule the country.
He expressed hope that the PML-N will emerge victorious with overwhelming majority in the next general election. The government will complete its term till the last day of its mandate and the Election Commission should make arrangements to hold general elections in sixty days.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz believes in politics of nobility and serving the masses.
Prime Minister said economic situation and law and order of the country are much better as compared to 2013.
He said that besides countering many challenges, we kept the journey of development continued and today, development is seen in every sphere of life.
He said that the government will keep moving ahead till the last moment its tenure despite of all hurdles.
He said that we give due respect to decisions of the courts but Khawaja Asif is more popular among the people today.
He said that the real decision comes from the masses in the elections. He emphasized that all institutions in the country should function under their constitutional limits.
The prime minister said that all institutions should work for development of the country and save it from plunging back into the darkness.
About the 4-lane Narowal – Lahore-Sialkot Motorway link highway, the prime minister said the Rs 16 billion project would serve as a milestone in the development of the area and its effects would be far reaching and rapid.
The prime minister said different projects in the country were initiated and completed by the PML-N government which had been left unattended by previous government.
Addressing a gathering after performing the groundbreaking ceremony of dualization and improvement of Sialkot-Pasrur road, the Prime Minister said, the country cannot make progress and development un-till the public representatives and accorded due respect.
He said the politicians are mandated by masses to serve the country. Therefore its, deserve due respect and stressed that country’s progress is linked with this reverence.
The prime minister said we always respected judicial verdicts and implemented them but decisions against politicians were not accepted by the people nor the history would endorse them.
The prime minister said under the vision of PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, the government had been executing uplift projects throughout the country worth billions of rupees.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb and senior PML(N) leader and former and former Federal Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal asked all politicians and institutions to get united and shun their differences for national development, prosperity and integrity to make it a stronger Pakistan by ending poverty.
He said that the PML-N government had successfully implemented its electoral manifesto by delivering in every field of life.
He said that the national economical parameters were strengthening day by day and Pakistan had been included in the list of five fastest growing economies of the world.
Ahsan Iqbal urged all politicians and institutions to refrain from making Pakistan an “experimental laboratory”, asking them to come forward, join hands and play their role in strengthening Pakistan. APP/AFP
