ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif submitted answers of 136 questions in the Flagship Investment corruption reference to the Accountability Court (AC) of Islamabad.

The court had given a questionnaire comprising 140 questions to Nawaz Sharif to record his statement under section 342 in the Flagship Investment case.
Nawaz's counsel Khawaja Haris informed Accountability Court-II Judge Arshad Malik, who heard the Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), that his client would submit answers to the remaining four questions on Thursday.

Recording his statement, the accused said his children were independent and he had no link with their businesses, which they had established abroad.
Addressing Nawaz Sharif, the judge said he should have inquired from his sons about their expanding business abroad.

At this, Nawaz's counsel Khawaja Haris stated the sons of former prime minister were young and he could not pressurize them.
The accused, in his answers to the questions asked by the judge, claimed that the prosecution could not prove its charges against him and he would submit some documents with the court in that regard.

Assets were made by his sons but the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had declared him as owner of those properties, he added.
Nawaz also claimed that except JIT head Wajid Zia and NAB investigation officer, no other witness had given statement against him.

NAB had not submitted any evidence to prove that he had provided money to his sons for setting up businesses or his children were dependent on him.
