ISLAMABAD (APP): Wheat exports from the country during first four months of current financial year registered 100 percent increase as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
During the period from July-October, 2016, about 566 metric tons of wheat worth US$ 0.182 million were exported as compared to the exports of same period of last year.
Pakistani Kinnow exports to double this year
On month on month basis, wheat export also grew by 100 percent during the month of October as about 273 metric tons of the commodity worth US$ 0.86 million exported as compared to zero exports of the corresponding month of last year.
Meanwhile, fish and fish preparations exports from the country increased by 13.87 percent as country earned US$ 114 million by exporting the fish and fish preparations as compared to the exports of US$ 100.809 million during July-October (2015-16).
In terms of quantity, the fish trade increased by 22.93 percent by growing from the exports of 37,443 metric tons last year to 45,188 metric tons during the current fiscal year.
Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the exports of fish and fish preparations from the country witnessed increase of 4.34 percent in October 2016 when compared to the exports of October 2015.
The seafood exports during October 2016 were recorded at US$ 50.727 million compared to the exports of US$ 35.683 million during the period under review.
CPEC: Special Economic Zones for exports development
On month-on-month basis, the fish exports increased by 47.25 percent in October 2016 when compared to the exports of $34.456 million in September 2015.
It is worth mentioning here that the overall food exports from the country witnessed decrease of 11.43 percent during first four months of the ongoing fiscal year.
The food exports from the country were recorded at US$ 980.668 million during first four months as compared to the exports of US$ 1107.226 million of same period of last year.
