Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has announced to carry out a military operation in a Kurdish-controlled area east of the Euphrates in northern Syria.
It will be third Turkish offensive to dislodge Kurdish militia fighters close to its border.
Erdogan, addressing a ceremony in Istanbul today said both Russia and the United States have been told of the planned operation, but did not say when it would begin.
Meanwhile, Turkish Defence Ministry in a statement said US military officials have arrived in Ankara for a new round of talks to discuss the safe zone in northern Syria.
