Pakistan strongly responds over deadly terrorist attack in Iran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly denounced a terrorist attack in Iranianport city of Chahbahar, that claimed lives of at least three innocentpeople while injuring forty others.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal, in a tweet message hadstrongly condemned the terrorism in Iran’s port city of Chahbahar.

“Concerted efforts are required to uproot it from spreading anywhere andeverywhere,” Dr Faisal continued.

Earlier today, bomb attack on a police command post had killed at leastthree people in Chabahar in southeastern region of Iran, state mediareported.

The television said several people were also wounded in the terroristattack. The official IRNA news agency said it was a car bombing.

Sistan-Baluchistan province, where the bombing hit, has long been aflashpoint, with a number of attacks reported in recent past.

The report went on to say that shooting could also be heard in the city.Details were sketchy as the situation was still developing.

Videos shared on Twitter said to be taken from the scene shows smoke risinginto the sky with the sound of sirens heard in the background.

State authorities did not identify who was behind the attack. No militantgroup immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Chabahar, near Iran’s border with Pakistan on the Arabian Sea, is home to anew port recently built and is an economic free zone for the country.
