Arms Licences Ban: Federal Cabinet takes unprecedented decision

ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet has taken an unprecedented decision to deweaponise the country of the prohibited bore lethal weapons.

Federal cabinet has approved a proposal for the regulations of arms licenses for prohibited (automatic) weapons and lifting of a ban on non-prohibited bore arms license on Tuesday, Geo News has reported.

Only government departments will be allowed to keep automatic weapons, sources told this correspondent.

Sources further said that owners of automatic weapons will have the options to convert their weapon to semi-automatic or return it to the government in exchange for Rs 50,000.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, said the government is focusing on providing relief to the domestic and industrial power consumers.
