Jordan’s Queen Rania has expressed strong support for the social demandsrelated to the ceasefire in Gaza. She stated that those opposing theceasefire are indirectly endorsing the loss of thousands of innocent livesand providing a pretext for further violence.
According to Arab News, Queen Rania made this statement in an interviewwith the American news agency CNN’s Becky Anderson as a response to thedemands for a ceasefire by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who,after meeting with Arab leaders, had stated that Hamas would be reorganizedand would return to doing what it did on October 7.
Queen Rania emphasized that there should be a social demand for aceasefire, and she is aware of some people who are against the ceasefirebecause they argue that it strengthens Hamas. However, she stressed thatsuch an argument is only morally condemnable and not entirely based onreality.
She mentioned that if Israel were to eliminate Hamas, it would be inviolation of international agreements and international law due to itsunlawful occupation, human rights violations, illegal settlements, anddisregard for international conventions.
Queen Rania raised questions about the “catastrophic humanitariansituation” in Gaza, asking how many people need to die before our globalconscience is awakened, or why people always seem to fall asleep when itcomes to the Palestinians.

She stated that if we don’t pay attention to the root causes, we can killa fighter, but we can’t eliminate the cause. She revealed that nearly10,000 casualties, half of which are children, have occurred in Gaza sincethe start of the conflict.
When asked about Israel’s claim that human shields are being used, QueenRania strongly stated that the use of human shields is considered”criminal” under international law and is Israel’s responsibility toprotect civilians from casualties before firing a single bullet.
