In Islamabad, the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued afinal warning regarding vehicles lacking M-Tags and set a deadline forimposing a ban, as reported by ARY News on Monday.
Travelers have been cautioned to obtain the mandatory M-Tags for theirvehicles promptly; otherwise, they may be prohibited from accessing themotorways. The Motorway Police has established a deadline, instructing carowners to acquire their M-Tags by December 31.
Car owners failing to comply will not be allowed to enter the motorwaysfrom January 1, 2024, and may also face fines. This regulation applies toall motorways, including Islamabad-Peshawar M-1, Lahore-Abdul Hakeem M-3,Pindi Bhattian-Multan M-4, Multan-Sukkur M-5, Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan M-14,and Hasan Abdal-Mansehra Expressway E-35.
Notably, around 150,000 vehicles pass through the Islamabad-Lahore M-2Motorway daily. Vehicles equipped with M-Tags can conveniently pass throughcheckpoints and avoid traffic congestion.
Previously, M-Tags were issued based on computerized national identitycards (CNICs). However, travelers are now required to submit their vehicleregistration smart card. Travelers can recharge their M-Tags through theOne Network App or M-Tag Point.
