The Power Division has officially announced an electricity tariff increaseof Rs4.45 per unit for Karachi consumers, following a decision by theNational Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
This latest tariff hike is part of the first quarterly adjustment of theprevious fiscal year, and the additional charges will be collected fromK-Electric consumers in October and November.
The electricity tariff for K-Electric consumers has been raised from Rs1.49per unit to Rs4.45 per unit. On Thursday, NEPRA approved another tariffincrease of Rs1.71 per unit, further adding to the financial burden ofpower consumers. Additionally, on October 3, NEPRA approved a per-unitelectricity price increase of Rs3.28 as part of the quarterly adjustment.
As per NEPRA’s notification, a rate of Rs3.28 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) willbe collected from various consumer categories of power distributioncompanies (DISCOs) and K-Electric over a six-month period from October 2023to March 2024.
