On Wednesday, Khuda Bakhsh Marri, the Caretaker Minister for Mines andMinerals Development, made a noteworthy assertion concerning the mineralwealth of Sindh. According to him, Sindh is endowed with mineral depositsamounting to an astonishing $50 trillion.
This proclamation came to light during a momentous Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Sindh Mines and MineralDevelopment Department and Daud University of Engineering and Technology(DUET).
Marri, in his address, emphasized that Sindh is poised to usher in a newera of mineral exploration and extraction by harnessing cutting-edgebiological machines, data-sharing mechanisms, and research initiatives. Hehighlighted the significance of this endeavor, citing past shortcomingsattributed to departmental errors, academic institutions, and concernedofficials.
He underlined how the economies of several nations around the world relyheavily on their mineral reserves and expressed Sindh’s commitment torevamp the minerals sector through the integration of modern technology andthe attraction of global investors.
The Caretaker Minister asserted that Sindh boasts an array of valuableminerals, notably Silica Sand, with an estimated net worth of a staggering$50 trillion. He castigated the country’s current stance of seeking a mere$1 trillion instead of proactively tapping into its mineral wealth.
Additionally, Marri revealed that he had registered complaints againstillegal mining activities occurring in various regions of Sindh andannounced plans to establish a committee for the digitalization andmonitoring of the Mines and Minerals Department. This ambitious initiativeaims to ensure responsible and efficient management of the province’svaluable mineral resources
