Pakistan defeats Bangladesh in Asia Cup match

In the first match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, Bangladesh hasset a target of 194 runs to win against Pakistan. Pakistan had scored 167runs with the loss of three wickets while chasing the target.

Pakistan lost their first wicket in the ninth over when Fakhar Zaman wasdismissed for 20 runs off the bowling of Shoriful Islam. Captain Babar Azamalso couldn’t stay at the crease for long and was bowled after scoring 17runs off Taskin Ahmed’s delivery. Imam-ul-Haq played a brilliant innings, scoring 78 runs before becomingthe victim of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

On Wednesday, at Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss anddecided to bat first. For Bangladesh, Mosaddek Hossain scored 64 runs, andCaptain Shakib Al Hasan contributed 53 runs. Besides these two batsmen, noother Bangladeshi player managed to make an impact.

From Pakistan’s side, Haris Rauf took four wickets, Nasim Shah took three,and Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, and Iftikhar Ahmed each took onewicket. In this match, Pakistan made just one change in their playing XI,replacing Mohammad Nawaz with all-rounder Faheem Ashraf in the bowlingdepartment.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have faced each other 37 times in One DayInternationals, with Pakistan winning 32 times and Bangladesh winning 5times. Both teams last played an ODI against each other in Pakistan in 2008.
