ISLAMABAD – The tree plantation drive ‘Plant4Pakistan’ is not only beinglauded within the country but also getting recognition at internationallevel.
The World Economic Forum, while appreciating Pakistan’s tsunami treeplantation drive, had uploaded a short motivational video at Twitter fromtheir official handle, asking other countries to follow that plantationmodel to counter the hazards of global warming and other climate changes.
Video states that Pakistan is one of those six countries, which are mostaffected by global warming. Forest area of Pakistan is between 2-5% butaccording to the recommendation of the United Nations, it should be atleast 12% of the total area and a massive tree plantation is a step in theright direction.
The World Economic Forum, in the video, also explained that trees not onlycool down the cities but also remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Apart fromproducing oxygen, trees also help reduce soil erosion. At the end of thevideo, WEF asked the other countries to follow the suit to save the planetfrom environmental hazards.
Malik Amin Aslam Khan, the PM Advisor on climate change while commenting onthe video, said the project of ten billion tsunami tree plantation was anembodiment of real change which Prime Minister Imran Khan had promised andcould be seen on the ground. “Such encouragement give more impetus to ourresolve and we are committed to continue this drive with more passion anddetermination.”
