Journalists under severe attacks and threats in India: Amnesty International

NEW DELHI – World human rights watchdog, Amnesty International in IndianOccupied Kashmir has said that many journalists in India are facing deaththreats, attacks and false charges just for doing their job.

The Amnesty International said this on the eve of first anniversary ofjournalist, Gauri Lankesh, who was murdered last year.

Executive Director of Amnesty International in India Aakar Patel said in astatement that Gauri Lankesh’s death anniversary is an occasion to exposethe truth, that journalists are under attack in India.

The Amnesty International quoted a Reporters Without Borders report whichsaid that at least four journalists had been killed in India till June thisyear, and three others attacked physically and several other journalistshave received threats who are critical of the state.
