LAHORE – After a controversy over the issue of the forged signatures of theMPAs, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz was finalynotified as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly on Thursday.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi issued a formal notification in thisregard, putting an end to the anxiety faced by the party over the unusualdelay.
According to well-placed sources, Hamza’s appointment hanged in limbo afterthe Assembly Secretariat had received a complaint about forged signatureson the nomination papers submitted by the PML-N members.
After probing into the matter and ensuring that signatures were not forged,the Punjab Assembly speaker proceeded with Hamza’s appointed, Geo Newsreported.
Hamza has taken the oath of a provincial assembly member for the first timeafter the recently held General Elections. His father, Mian Shehbaz Sharifhad relinquished the provincial assembly seat to give tough time to theImran Khan-led PTI government at the centre where he is serving as theOpposition Leader.
