PTI government rejects reports of media ordinance

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain saysPakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf government is committed to protect rights of themedia workers and would not compromise on it.

He was interacting with media persons after meeting representatives ofCouncil of Pakistan Newspaper Editors in Lahore.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain strongly rejected the news item carried out by somesection of media that government is mulling an ordinance aimed at curbingthe voice of the media.

The Information Minister said no media bill will be introduced withoutconsulting political parties and the stakeholders including the journalistbodies and Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said during the meeting with the CPNErepresentatives, it was agreed that there is need to change the existingframework for the media industry, besides framing new media regulations toimprove its working.
