Pakistan Meteorological Department has activated a modern doppler weatherradar in Karachi.
The doppler radar is capable of forecasting rainfall in a radius of about450kms and strong winds in a radius of about 200kms.
The new radar, which was built at a cost of around Rs1.58 billion, is alsocapable of providing timely reports of cyclones and other tropical stormsin the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal regions.
The PMD department had provided a link to radar imagery on its website.
Talking to media, met department Director Sardar Sarfraz said people livingin the coastal areas of Balochistan and Sindh will be provided withaccurate forecasting and warning.
