Only 3 polling turnout recorded in Occupied Kashmir in sham parliamentary polls

ISLAMABAD – People overwhelmingly boycotted the fifth and final phase ofIndian parliamentary election drama in Shopian and Pulwama districts, today.According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), over 97 per cent voters stayedaway from the polling process. The polling booths wore a deserted look andon several booths no single voter came to vote on Islamabad’s Lok Sabhaseat.The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani in astatement issued in Srinagar, today, termed the exemplary election boycottobserved by the people as a symbolic referendum against Indian subjugation.Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in south Kashmir’s Shopian andPulwama districts, today. All shops and business establishments were closedwhile traffic was off the roads. Call for the shutdown and boycott wasgiven by the Joint Resistance Leadership. Mobile Internet service remainedsuspended in South Kashmir, while train service between Baramulla andBanihal was also cancelled.
