Indian Army serving Colonel Jasjeet arrested on dacoity charges

NEW DELHI: A serving Colonel of Indian Army has been arrested for being involved in High Way robbery and Dacoity.

As per the Indian Media Colonel Jasjeet Singh is the Commandant of the Aizwal based 30th Battalion of the Assam Rifles and was arrested by Police for being involved in the highway robbery of Rs. 14.5 crores gold bars being smuggled from Myanmar.

As per the police report Colonel Jasjit had ordered Indian Army men under his command to seize the gold consignment in the outskirts of Aizwal City on the night of December 14, last year.

The incidence cane to limelight when the driver of the vehicle Lalnunfela registered a complaint with the local police about the incidence.

Indian Army Assam Rifles 8 jawans are also in police custody and confessed that they were ordered to do so by their commandant Colonel Jasjit Singh.

Colonel Jasjit has been suspended from the service and presently in policy custody after his anticipatory bail was rejected by the District and Session Judge Aizwal.

Aizwal Police has already constituted a special investigation team to probe the incident under the charges of criminal intimidation and Dacoity.
