PM Imran Khan to perform ground breaking of two Naya Pakistan Housing Programme sites

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to perform theground-breaking ceremony of two housing projects in Islamabad and Quettalater this month.

Both projects are part of PM Khan’s ambition of Naya Pakistan HousingProgram (NPHP) under which he promised to deliver 500,000 low-costresidential units to the underprivileged faction of the society.

The decision was taken during a monthly review meeting of the housingproject, with PM Imran in the chair.

Secretary Housing Dr. Imran Zeb Khan briefed the premier regarding theprogress on the various housing projects under NPHP. He informed thepremier that in the first phase, they are going to build 110,000 units inQuetta and Gwadar. Also, 19,000 apartments would be built in 4 differentprojects in the federal capital.

Dr. Zeb told the prime minister that the task force has prepared draftlegislation for the establishment of Naya Pakistan Housing Authority,foreclosure laws and housing specific loans recovery procedures, and hassent the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Cases for its consideration.

He hoped that all codal formalities for the establishment of Naya PakistanHousing Company would be completed during this week.

He said the Housing Ministry was soon going to sign a Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) with the Balochistan government to start varioushousing projects in the province. He informed PM Khan that they were goingto establish 5,000 apartments in Quetta’s Wahdat Colony, 55,000 in Gwadarand 54,000 apartments in Fisher Colony.

Khan was further told that 3,000 units would be constructed in AJ&K inaddition to 19,000 units in Islamabad.

Secretary Housing said the ministry had acquired a land new Chaklala fromCDA where 30,000 apartments would be built.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed satisfaction on the steady progress ofNPHP and on the fact that international investors are taking a keeninterest in the project.
