ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan High Commission London has organized a Receptionin honour of the British Missionaries, Educationists and Philanthropistswho had lived and served in Pakistan.
The event entitled, “The Journey of Love” was part of High Commissioner,Mohammad Nafees Zakaria’s outreach initiative to connect with the Britishfriends of Pakistan and the Pakistani Diaspora in the United Kingdom.
In his remarks, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Mohammad Nafees Zakariacommended the contribution of the British Missionaries towards thedevelopment and progress of various segments of society in Pakistan.
The High Commissioner said Pakistan is rich in cultural and religiousdiversity as its population comprises the Christians, Sikhs, Budhists,Hindus, Parsis, Zoroastrians, Bahais, and small portion of the Kalash,Kihals and Jains.
Speaking about the rights of country’s citizens of various faiths andbeliefs, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria said Constitution of Pakistan protects therights of all the citizens without any discrimination.
The British Friends on the occasion appreciated the High Commission’sgesture which would help further strengthen the bilateral relations.
They shared with the audience fond memories of their work and stay invarious parts of Pakistan.
The speakers praised the people of Pakistan for their hospitality, love andreligious tolerance.
A large number of the British Missionaries, Educationists, Philanthropists,Member Parliament, Counselors, members of the Pakistani Community and Mediaattended the Reception.
