MULTAN – Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is considering to issueuniversal number plates with an aim tofacilitate vehicle owners locally.
Earlier, vehicle owners especially hailing from differentcities of south Punjab and its adjacent areas were more interestedfor registration of vehicles with district Lahore. Citizens haveto visit Lahore for the registration of vehicles.
This was informed by Excise and Taxation Officer Suhail Buzdarwhile talking to APP. The proposal will help reduce burden of workon Lahore office. The choice of Lahore related number plates wouldalso automatically end because the number plates would be issuedat provincial level.
If proposal is accepted, then, the local citizens willmanage registrationof their vehicles via online facility andthey will not travel toward Lahore for registration of vehicles.

He further remarked that the revenue of Multan and otherdistricts of south Punjab would also increase after universalnumber plates are introduced in the province.
