ISLAMABAD – Shahid Afridi has again ignited Indians with his remarks overIPL. He said that he won’t be returning to the Indian Premier League evenif Pakistan players get the approval to play in the tournament.
“Even if they call me, I won’t go to the IPL. My PSL (Pakistan SuperLeague) is the biggest and there will be a time that it leaves the IPLbehind. I am enjoying the PSL, I don’t have any need for the IPL. I’m notinterested in it and never was,” the former all-rounder added.
“I am a soldier of my country. My country is my honour and Pakistan iseverything for me. If I had not been a cricketer, I would have joined thearmy,” he said.Shahid Afridi’s tweet against the situation in India occupied Kashmir hasdrawn severe of criticism on social media with cricketers like GautamGambhir, Virat Kohli, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar etc.
But the 38-year-old feels he spoke the truth and isn’t worried about theresponse that he got from what he wrote.
“I’m not worried about the response to my tweet from some. I believe Ispoke the truth and I have the right to speak the truth,” Afridi told awebsite called PakPassion.net.
Afridi on Tuesday said, “appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in theIndian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime toclamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN &other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”.
