Nawaz Sharif thinks, dying in a jail in a corruption case is death with dignity

LAHORE – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif refused to be shifted to ahospital for treatment despite repeated attempts by the family members.

Shehbaz Sharif met the supreme leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz atthe Kot Lakhpat jail on Wednesday and confirmed his condition to be‘worrisome’.

The former chief minister Punjab confirmed that Nawaz Sharif refused to berelocated to a hospital for treatment despite requests by his mother andother members of the family who tended to him.

“Neither have I begged for treatment, nor will I ask for it. Politics isbeing done in the name of treatment,” Nawaz Sharif told his brother andvisiting family members .

The former premier clarified in point-blank remarks that he would preferdeath with dignity but would not accept humiliation.

‘The treatment has not been started even after the reports of the medicalboard,’ the former premier complained.

The elder Sharif, who was sent behind bars in the Al-Azizia Steel Millsreference, continued that the government had not provided any sort ofmedical service until now.

Shehbaz Sharif, who revealed the condition of the former premier, stated onTwitter that when Sharif’s mother Shamim Akhtar pressed him for treatment,Nawaz Sharif replied: The will of Almighty Allah, whatever it is, wouldhappen.

In the light of the medical condition of the former lawmaker, visitorswould not be allowed to meet him on Thursday.

A day earlier, Maryam Nawaz had confirmed that Nawaz Sharif was not readyto be relocated to a hospital, advocating the release of the three-timeprime minister from jail.

The elder Sharif was sent to seven years behind bars in the Al-Azizia SteelMills reference by the accountability court in Islamabad in December lastyear.

Nawaz Sharif was also convicted in the Avenfiled reference by theaccountability court judge Muhammad Bashir, however, he was granted bail bythe Islamabad High Court.

Sharif’s plea for bail on medical grounds in the Al-Azizia Steel Millsreference conviction was turned down by the Islamabad High Court last monthfollowing which he has moved the supreme court.
