Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that thenations were governed by laws, and it was the constitution of the countrythat determined what was right and what was wrong.
In a video message, he regretted that ever since the ‘imported’ governmenthad come to power, the constitution had been torn into bits and pieces.
“The court had ordered that local bodies’ elections in Islamabad should beheld within 48 hours,” Imran said, adding, “A month has passed but there isno sign of elections.”
PTI chief regretted that despite the fact that the constitution protectedbasic liberties of people, still the party leaders and workers were whiskedaway by the authorities and tortured in detention.
So much so, he added, that some PTI leaders were still coming to grips withthe aftermath of the inhuman treatment they suffered during detention.“What else could be more tragic than the fact that people were picked upfor just making a tweet,” he said, adding, “Those who peacefully protestedon May 25, 2022 were mercilessly beaten up.”
“The situation has come to such a pass that people have now started losingtrust in the laws of the land and the constitution,” former premier said.
