SRINAGAR – Being fearfull of Kahsmiri children, a child was injured infiring by the Indian army in Kulgam on Monday, as locals clashed with anarmy patrol there.
A police official said an Army patrol team came under stone peltingimmediately after conducting searches of a few houses in Redwani’s HawooraKulgam.
The police said the Army’s Ist Rashtriya Rifles “opened fire to dispersethe stone-throwing protesters”.
One youth, identified as Arif Ahmad Lone, sustained bullet injuries.
The police said the injured was shifted to a Srinagar hospital and isstable.
On January 27, the army came under criticism from regional politicalparties for directly firing into stone throwers mobs in Shopian, which leftthree civilian dead.
