Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says protecting workers' rights is the top priority of the government.
Addressing a ceremony organized by All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation in Islamabad this evening, she said the government has launched Ehsas programme, which reflects Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision of the state of Madina, where every state institution works to provide relief to the downtrodden people.
The Special Assistant said Imran Khan is going to transact three billion rupees under Ehsas programme tomorrow for uplift of the poor. She said the government also realizes problems of newspaper hawkers and will try to link them with the Ehsas Programme.
She announced formulation of a Joint Action Committee comprising all stakeholders to evolve a comprehensive strategy for the welfare of newspaper sellers. She said that they should also be entitled to get Insaf health cards like other media workers.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the nation was suffering from poverty while, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been enjoying luxury and expensive cars on the nation's money.
In her tweet tonight, she said talking about the general public from jail is just like betraying. She said recovery of the stolen wealth from Jati Umra has started.
