Kabul: Afghan forces in crackdown against Taliban fighters have killed seven militants and injured eight others in Tishkan district of the northern Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Sanahullah Rohani said.
The fresh crackdown, according to the official, launched Thursday in parts of the restive Tishkan district and so far had led to the physical elimination of seven Taliban fighters and injuring eight others.
Two security personnel have also been injured in the ongoing operations, the official admitted.
The cleanup operations which begun couple of days ago would last until the restive district is cleansed of the insurgents, Rohani further said.
Meanwhile, at least seven militants have been killed and three others sustained injuries as clash erupted in Nijrab district of the eastern Kapisa province, an army statement released here Friday said.
The clash, according to the statement, broke out after the security forces launched cleanup operations.
Taliban militants have been expelled from at least 10 villages over the past 24 hours, the statement said.
