KABUL (AT News): At least 406 Taliban militants have surrendered to the Afghan security forces in three western provinces within one month, ministry of defense said on Tuesday.
Ministry’s spokesman, Fawad Aman said that 59 Taliban fighters laid down their arms and surrendered to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Shahrak district of Ghor province and Chesht-e-Sharif district of Herat province on Monday.
Other six were surrendered in Qades district of Badghis province yesterday (Tuesday), Mr. Aman told Afghanistan Times. Among 406 Taliban fighters, 343 of them surrendered in Ghor, 57 in Herat and six others in Badghis provinces, the spokesman added.
Mullah Naser, Mullah Salahudin and Jan Feda – three local commanders of Taliban were also among the surrendered militants. In the past over one month, around hundreds of IS, also known as Daesh fighters had surrendered to the Afghan security in eastern Nangarhar province.
