At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for taking effective steps to protect children in conflict zones and occupied territories.
Speaking in a debate on 'Children in Conflict', in the UN Security Council, Pakistani delegate Haseeb Gohar said children continue to suffer in the conflict zones and occupied territories as their rights are violated.
He said children are killed, abducted to fight, used as human shields, enslaved, sexually abused and denied humanitarian aid.
Haseeb Gohar said preventing and resolving conflicts, ending foreign occupations and working to sustain peace are the best ways to protect children from the effects of armed conflicts. He said this must be the top priority of UN Security Council.
