ISLAMABAD: Some media reports recently suggested that PTI and BAP have signed a power sharing agreement along the lines of the Murree Accord.
Under the Murree Accord, signed by PML-N, National Party and PkMAP in 2012, the National Party’s Dr Abdul Malik Baloch served as the chief minister of Balochistan for the first two and a half years, after which he was replaced by PML-N’s Sanaullah Zehri.
These reports surfaced after the Balochistan Awami Party announced that BAP Central President Jam Kamal will be their candidate for the CM post, while former Balochistan CM Quddus Bazinjo will be their choice for the position of speaker.
Rejecting these reports, BAP’s information secretary Chaudhry Bashir said that there is no truth to these media reports.
“Our coalition with PTI is unconditional and BAP will not compromise on the post of chief minister,” he said.
We want to work with all the parties for the development of Balochistan, however, this partnership can not be built on such agreements, he added.
On the other hand, PTI Balochistan’s spokesperson Babar Yousufzai said the party’s provincial president Yar Muhammad Rind will take the party into confidence over the agreement with BAP.
Consider any rumour regarding an agreement between BAP and PTI just a rumour, he added.
