Indian Army Validates Long-Range Precision Strike Capabilities in Desert

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Army’s Southern Command has successfully concluded acomprehensive validation exercise of its long-range precision strikecapabilities in the Desert Sector, highlighting the operational readinessof integrated deep-strike assets across land, air, and artillery domains.

The exercise, conducted in the vast expanses of Rajasthan, focused onsynchronising multiple combat elements to achieve seamless firepowercoordination. High-precision rocket systems, loitering munitions, unmannedaerial platforms, and tube artillery, and air-delivered ordnance wereemployed in a simulated high-intensity conflict scenario against fortifiedenemy positions located deep behind the forward line.

Senior officers described the drill as a full-spectrum demonstration of thecommand’s ability to execute time-sensitive targeting and rapid battledamage assessment through networked command-and-control systems. Theintegration of real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissancefeeds enabled strike packages to engage multiple targets simultaneouslywith enhanced accuracy and minimal collateral risk.

The validation also tested logistical sustainability for prolongedoperations, including forward ammunition replenishment and dispersed basingof launch platforms. Special emphasis was placed on countering electronicwarfare threats and maintaining communication resilience under contestedelectromagnetic environments.

Military analysts noted that the exercise reflects India’s continuingemphasis on developing credible deterrence along its western bordersthrough precision firepower and jointness among services. The SouthernCommand, responsible for a significant portion of the frontier withPakistan, has progressively enhanced its deep-strike arsenal in recentyears, incorporating indigenous systems alongside imported platforms.

The successful execution of complex multi-axis strikes during both day andnight conditions underscores the growing maturity of India’s integratedbattle groups concept.
