Dar, Saudi FM Discuss Gaza Crisis and Israeli Restrictions

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Darheld a detailed telephonic conversation with Saudi Minister of ForeignAffairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Thursday to discuss thedeteriorating situation in Gaza and broader regional developments.

The two leaders expressed grave concern over Israel’s unilateralannouncement to convert the Rafah crossing into an exit-only passage forPalestinian residents, describing the move as a flagrant violation of theagreed peace framework and an attempt to severely restrict humanitarianaccess to the besieged territory.

Senator Dar strongly condemned the Israeli decision, stating that it notonly undermines recent diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a sustainableceasefire but also exacerbates the already catastrophic humanitarianconditions faced by over two million Palestinians in Gaza. He emphasisedthat restricting entry through Rafah would effectively block the deliveryof essential food, medicine, and fuel supplies at a time when faminewarnings have been issued by international organisations.

Prince Faisal echoed these concerns, stressing that any measure hinderingunfettered humanitarian access contradicts international humanitarian lawand the commitments made under various United Nations resolutions. Bothministers reiterated their countries’ unwavering position that thePalestinian people must receive immediate and unconditional aid withoutbureaucratic or political impediments.

The conversation also covered the need for enhanced coordination betweenPakistan and Saudi Arabia, two influential members of the Organisation ofIslamic Cooperation, to mobilise global support for an immediate ceasefireand the establishment of a viable two-state solution. They agreed that thecontinued escalation in Gaza poses a serious threat to regional stabilityand requires urgent intervention by the international community.

Both leaders reaffirmed their full commitment to working jointly throughbilateral and multilateral platforms to ensure the uninterrupted flow ofhumanitarian assistance to Gaza and to advance meaningful steps toward ajust, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.

The telephonic exchange reflects the deepening strategic partnershipbetween Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on issues of mutual concern, particularlythe Palestinian cause, which remains a cornerstone of their respectiveforeign policies.
