ISLAMABAD – Chinese Embassy strongly reacts over American media reports of629 Pakistani brides sold to Chinese Nationals.
The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad has categorically dismissed the AmericanNews Agency, Associated Press’ story regarding Pakistani brides being soldto Chinese nationals.
The comment has come just a day after the story was published. In itsreport, AP claimed to have obtained a list of 629 women and girls who were‘sold’ to Chinese nationals in the name of marriage during the last coupleof years.
It claimed that these brides in China were forced into prostitution, organtrading, and so on. Both, Chinese and Pakistani foreign ministries, hadrefused to comment, the report said.——————————
However, on Thursday morning, the Chinese Embassy issued a statement,saying that it is the same old American propaganda that holds no truth.
We have noted the above-mentioned media report. It is the same old stuffand not true.
It said that the Chinese government supports transnational marriages and isready to fight any crime that takes place under the banner of marriage.
The Chinese government will protect legitimate marriages and combat crimes.If any organization or individual commits a crime in Pakistan under thebanner of transnational marriage, it must be duly punished.
The statement added that thanks to the joints efforts of both governments,the illegal marriage matching activity has been curbed, and reiterated thatChina will always support Pakistan in this regard.——————————
The Chinese government had started an investigation into the scandal, soonafter it was highlighted on media back in June this year, and found noproof against the claims of forced prostitution and organ trading.
The Chinese side also sent a task force to Pakistan to carry out lawenforcement cooperation with the Pakistani side, which is proved to be veryeffective.
The statement also questioned the credibility and malicious intentions ofthe media organization, which published a baseless story without thoroughinvestigation.
