ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated Pakistan’s abidinginterest in achieving peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan throughpolitical settlement.
He was talking to US Secretary of State’s Special Representative forAfghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on called on him inIslamabad on Wednesday.
Recalling his long personal commitment to the cause of peace in the region,the Prime Minister welcomed President Trump’s letter and the US assuranceto work with Pakistan on this shared objective.
The Prime Minister also emphasized on the importance of intensifyingregular engagement on priority areas in the bilateral context particularlytrade, investment, education, health and social sector development.
Ambassador Khalilzad conveyed the good wishes of President Donald Trump tothe Prime Minister.
He said US leadership looks forward to working with Pakistan in furtheringthe shared goal of peace through a political settlement in Afghanistan.
