In the state of Manipur, India, the situation has become extremely dire,with authorities losing control. According to international media reports,around 700 insurgents attacked a police camp in Imphal, seizing modernweapons, firearms, and several vehicles, while also causing casualtiesamong police personnel.
As per the report, the ongoing armed conflict, which began on May 3 lastyear, has resulted in the looting of over 5,000 government weapons andmillions of rounds of ammunition.
Despite deploying more than a hundred thousand security personnel, thesituation has slipped from the control of the Modi government.
Reportedly, in Manipur, more than 100 police officers have lost theirlives, and over a thousand individuals have been killed, with over ahundred thousand displaced. More than 6,000 homes and over 500 places ofworship have also been destroyed.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has declared the situation extremely grave.The National Human Rights Commission has expressed concerns about the Modigovernment’s seriousness in ending the violence incidents.
