Shahid Afridi makes bold claims about Shadab Khan

Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, has voiced his opinion on theShadab Khan versus Usama Mir selection debate for Pakistan’s ICC World Cuplineup. Speaking on a local news channel, Afridi supports the inclusion ofUsama Mir over Shadab, citing a significant gap in their bowling abilities.

He particularly praises Usama’s drift and body language as superior, stating, “There is a massive disparity in their bowling. In terms of driftand body language, Usama is much better.” Afridi also points out thatShadab, who was once known for contributing with the bat, has not beenperforming well in that aspect recently, making the batting differenceminimal.

He says, “Shadab used to score some runs, but that is not the case rightnow, so there is not much of a difference in their batting as well.” Whileacknowledging Shadab’s past importance to the Pakistan team, Afridiemphasizes the need for current performance.

He suggests that if a player, regardless of their previous role, isstruggling, they should be benched to give others an opportunity. Afridiasserts, “Shadab was once the backbone of the Pakistan team, and I was ahuge supporter of him.

But if you are unable to perform well, be it captain or vice-captain, aplayer should be benched, and others should be given an opportunity.” Inthe World Cup warm-up match against Australia, Shadab conceded 69 runs in10 overs with one wicket, while Usama claimed 2-31 in five overs.
