FIA recovered foreign currency worth Rs 3.86 billions in countrywide raids

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced that they recovered morethan Rs3.86 billion in domestic and foreign currency during this year’sraids. This revelation was made during a meeting in Islamabad, presidedover by DG FIA, Director General FIA Mohsin Hasan Butt.

The meeting included the participation of Additional Director Generals,Zonal Directors, and other senior officers, as per a press release.

The meeting highlighted that over 28 plazas, markets, and shops were sealedacross the nation during these raids. In the course of the year, there were390 raids conducted to target individuals engaged in illicit money andcurrency exchange.

This resulted in 382 registered cases and the arrest of 557 suspects.Additionally, 51 inquiries were completed.

Among the arrested, 250 were apprehended in KP zone, 68 in Lahore zone, 24in Gujranwala zone, 48 in Faisalabad zone, and 43 in Multan zone, accordingto the report. Furthermore, Islamabad zone arrested 20 suspects, Karachizone apprehended 64, Hyderabad zone nabbed 23, and Balochistan zonearrested 17 individuals, all for engaging in currency exchange without alicense. Law enforcement agencies were also involved in the arrest of thesesuspects.
