Air Commodore Jawad Zafar appointed as new Chief Operating Officer of PIA

Air Commodore Jawad Zafar has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer(COO) of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).

According to the PIA spokesperson, the post of Chief Operating Officer hadbecome vacant after the resignation of Ijaz Mazhar, after which Air CommodoJawad Zafar has been appointed.

According to PIA spokesperson, on completion of deputation of Air ViceMarshal Noor Abbas, Amir Hayat has been appointed as CEO PIA’s advisor.

Last week, the national carrier dismissed its 28 employees over misconductand their involvement in heinous crimes in Sep 2020. According to theairline, seven employees were dismissed over fake degrees while eight wereterminated over prolonged unauthorized absence.

Similarly, two of them were fired over sabotaging company property whilethe rest of them were found guilty in several heinous crimes includingcorruption, immoral act of omission, indulgence in alcohol / narcotics,destruction of official record, smuggling, etc.
