WASHINGTON – US State Department speaks over the meeting between PakistaniForeign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Pakistani Foreign Minister ShahMehmood Qureshi “reiterated their desire to maintain constructive dialogueto advance shared interests”, a spokesperson for the US Department of Statesaid on Wednesday.
In a statement link issuedon theState Department website, spokesperson Heather Nauert said Pompeotold Qureshi that the US “looked forward to working with Pakistan’s newgovernment”.
The Pakistani foreign minister had called on the US state secretary here atthe State Department office earlier today to discuss “a range of bilateraland regional issues of mutual interest”, in what became his third meetingwith his American counterpart this month, after the latter invited him tovisit Washington during his visit to Islamabad last month.
Of that September trip, Nauert noted that it was “a good trip” and that theAmerican and Pakistani leadership”had good, fruitful meetings”.
