Major crackdown launched in occupied Kashmir ahead of sham elections

SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, authorities have launched a massivecrackdown in South Kashmir ahead of the so-called Municipal and Panchayatelections, arresting dozens of people in Pulwama district.

The personnel of Indian police and its Special Operations Group raidedseveral villages of the district including Kalampora, Qasba Yar, Drubgam,Bellow, Murran, Rohmoo and Nowpora over the past couple of days anddetained scores of people.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed and another injured when unidentifiedgunmen opened fire at them in Srinagar city, today.

Unknown gunmen also fired upon three persons in Habbakadal area of thecity, injuring them critically.
