Top International Cricketer announces retirement

South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has announced hisretirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket. According to CricketSouth Africa, the 30-year-old de Kock will retire after the upcoming ICCMen’s Cricket World Cup to be held in India next year. He has been a partof the South African team in the previous two World Cups as well.

Quinton de Kock has had an impressive ODI career, amassing 17 centuries and29 half-centuries. His highest individual score of 178 runs was achievedagainst Australia in 2016, where he also took on the role of wicketkeeper.

As a wicketkeeper, de Kock has 183 catches and has stumped out 14 playersduring his career.

South Africa’s first match in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup inIndia is scheduled to take place on October 7th against Sri Lanka. Quintonde Kock’s retirement decision marks the end of an era in South Africancricket, as he has been a prominent figure in their ODI squad for severalyears
