Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, embarked on an officialtwo-day visit to Uzbekistan, as reported by the military’s media wing onTuesday. The precise date of the army chief’s arrival in the country wasnot specified.
The primary objective of this visit, as conveyed by the Inter-ServicesPublic Relations (ISPR), is to bolster defense collaboration and fostercommunication between the military entities of the two nations.
During his sojourn, COAS General Asim Munir engaged in meetings withseveral key figures, including H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President ofUzbekistan, the Defense Minister, and officials from the country’s statesecurity service.
Emphasizing the paramount importance of enhancing intelligence sharing andfostering cooperation in mutual training, COAS General Munir steered thediscussions during these meetings.
Furthermore, in recognition of the Uzbekistan Military Forces’preparedness and training levels, as well as their understanding ofregional security dynamics, the COAS expressed his appreciation.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Defense, COAS General Munir wasaccorded a warm reception and was honored with a Guard of Honour by ameticulously turned-out contingent.Moreover, as a gesture of respect and remembrance, the COAS laid a floralwreath at the Tashkent Martyrs’ Memorial Complex.
