The Islamabad High Court has taken significant action regarding the writtenarrest order related to three Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) cases.These cases pertain to the former Punjab chief minister and PTI President,Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who had been detained by the Islamabad police.According to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel, the court has suspended thearrest order and has further ordered the release of Mr. Elahi.
In response to this development, the court has also issued a notice to theconcerned parties, including the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner, schedulingthe next hearing for Tuesday. The court has requested their responses andinput during this upcoming session. Additionally, the judge presiding overthe case has directed Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to make an appearance duringthe next hearing.
Moreover, the Islamabad High Court has imposed restrictions on Mr. Elahi,preventing him from making any statements until the upcoming hearing. Thecourt’s decision appears to be influenced by the fact that, according tothe petitioner’s lawyer, there was no FIR registered against ChaudhryPervaiz Elahi in Islamabad.
This significant development occurred during a hearing of the petitionfiled by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, seeking the nullification of the MPOorder. During the hearing, the judge inquired about the duration of Mr.Elahi’s incarceration, to which the lawyer representing him replied that hehad been in detention since June 1. Justice Jahangiri noted that the PTIleader had been in jail for over three months, emphasizing the importanceof this case in light of the extended detention period
