Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the petition for early investigationof party funds of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) on September 6 (Tuesday)
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case tomorrow. Thepetitioner Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) leader Farrukh Habib has requestedthe court to issue directions to the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) toscrutinize the bank accounts of PPP and PML-N as soon as possible.
The petitioner pleaded in the application that only three years of funds ofPPP and PML-N are being scrutinized while the ECP has already scrutinizedthe party funds received by PTI from 2008 at the request of Akbar S Babar.
The petitioner said the ECP is showing a discriminatory attitude towardsPTI in comparison to other political parties, adding that there is an orderof the Supreme Court regarding the scrutiny of party funds.
He further stated in the petition that the Election Commission ditches itsfair and transparent role in the scrutiny of party funds.
