SEOUL – Samsung top official has confirmed the South Korean tech giant isintroducing its foldable smartphone by the end of this year.
In an interview with CNBClink,Samsung’s mobile division CEO, DJ Koh revealed that the company is lookingto introduce its first foldable Galaxy as early as this year.
DJ Koh told CNBC that “it’s time to deliver” on a foldable device afterconsumer surveys carried out by Samsung showed that there is a market forthat kind of handset.
Koh didn’t disclose any specifications about the smartphone but heannounced that company will unveil the smartphone at Samsung DevelopersConference 2018, which is set for November 7-8 in San Francisco.
Moreover, Koh promised that the device will have added functions when it’sunfolded so it can give a reason for early adopters to buy it.
Samsung is likely to focus on creating an actual screen that bends insteadof using old-school flip phones’ hinge.
Previously, it was reported that Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphonewould use a single screen.
