KP Ehtesab Commission abolished

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caibnet Wednesday decided to abolish EhtesabCommission and instead activate the anti-corruption department atdivisional and district levels to wipe out the menace of corruptionpractices.

The provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehmood Khan notedthat there was not need of Ehtesab Commission in the presenceof National Accountability Bureau and Anti-Corruption department.

It observed that KP government could not bear the expenses of KP EhtesabCommission therefore decided to abolish it henceforth, said ShaukatYousafzaid, the spokesman of the provincial government while talking tomedia after the meeting.

He said the cabinet vowed to strengthen local government system and policeby brining reforms into the two systems, he added. Thecabinet also formed committee for police and local government reforms intribaldistricts, which have been merged with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The cabinet also decided to make amendments in relevant laws for policereformsand speedy and cheap justice system in the province. The cabinet alsoformed acommittee for civil service reforms, which would be headed by chiefminister.

The provincial cabinet also decided award contract of Chasma Right Canalproject to a Chinese company, which would $1.2 billion. Theproject would help resolve the water supply problem in southern districts.

The undeserving people would be excluded from Sehat Insaf card system,while the deserving people would be given the cards. The ministerand secretary of health would be responsible for taking care of the healthcards.

Meanwhile, Taimur Zafar Jhagar said that the provincial cabinet alsofinalized 100-day plan for the provincial government that would focuson health, education, agriculture and livestock sectors.

He said the cabinet decided to get approval of special packagefrom the federal government for merger of tribal areas into KP through swifttransition. – APP
