UK Announces Fully-Funded Scholarships for Pakistani Students

ISLAMABAD: The UK government has announced the opening of applications for its prestigious fully funded Chevening Scholarships, inviting Pakistani mid-career professionals to apply for a one-year master’s degree at leading universities across the United Kingdom.

In a statement issued by the British High Commission in Islamabad, it was stated that the scholarships are available to candidates with at least two years of post-graduate work experience. Applications will be accepted from August 5 to October 7, 2025, and must be submitted online.

The Chevening Scholarship covers all major costs, including tuition fees, return airfare to the UK, visa expenses, accommodation, and a monthly living stipend.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott called Chevening “a launchpad for Pakistan’s exceptional future leaders,” encouraging aspiring applicants who are passionate about leadership and driving positive change to apply.

“Chevening offers more than just a world-class education,” she said. “It provides space for personal growth, access to global networks, and the confidence to lead with purpose.”

Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong leadership qualities, influence, and networking skills through concrete examples from their careers. The scholarship also aims to strengthen long-term ties between Pakistan and the UK by immersing scholars in British academic and cultural life.

Launched in 1983, the Chevening programme is funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) along with various partner organisations. To date, the initiative has produced over 60,000 alumni worldwide, including more than 2,000 from Pakistan, many of whom now hold key roles in government, business, and civil society.
