Khawaja Haris concludes cross-examining of NAB IO

ISLAMABAD:Sharif family’s counsel Khawaja Harris Friday concluded his cross examination with NAB Investigation Officer (IO) Imran Dogar in a reference pertaining to the Avenfield property.

Accountability Court (AC) Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing of the reference against Sharif family members filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt. (R) Muhammad Safdar appeared before the court along with their legal team.

During the cross-examination, NAB’s last prosecution witness and IO Imran Dogar informed the court that the department had not found any document showing the amount was paid through the bank account of former prime minister to purchase London flats.

He stated that the Supreme Court had directed NAB to file reference on basis of available evidence in JIT report. No further material was received from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the case, he said.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Haris requested the court to make the summon notice to his clients dated August 18, 2017 as case record. However, NAB prosecutor opposed the request and stated that these documents should be made as case record following the prosecution request.

Imran Dogar informed the court the second summon to the accused was issued on December 28, 2017 and till that no extra material in the reference was found.

To a question, he said the flow chart related to the assets of former prime minister was not prepared in his presence. He said neither he has been part of JIT team nor he knew about the other officers who were serving with JIT.

The court adjourned hearing of the case till May 7, wherein Maryam Nawaz’s counsel Amjad Pervaiz would continue cross examining Imran Dogar. APP/AFP
