Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja shared histhoughts on revamping the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in order to makeoverseas players to prefer PSL over *Indian Premier League*link (IPL). Hisstatements sparked a controversy as the Indian cricket fans startedcriticizing Ramiz over his remarks.
Last month, the Raja, the current PCB chairman, had stated his thoughtsand views on the long-standing debate of IPL vs PSL. He made the statementjust when *BCCI*linkto tap the market for the IPL media rights.
In an interview last month, he said: “This is a game of money. When thecricket economy grows in Pakistan, our respect will rise. The main driverof that financial economy is the PSL. If we take the PSL to the auctionmodel and increase the purse, then I’ll put it in the IPL bracket. And thenwe’ll see who goes to play the IPL over the PSL.”

On Sunday, April 3, Ramiz cleared the air around the statement he made,saying that he was misquoted by the media and that he was aware of theeconomic conditions of the two nations. “I was misquoted. I know where theeconomy of India is and where is Pakistan’s. We have plans to improve thePSL. We will bring in the auction model but I was misquoted on the otherpart,” he said while speaking to Cricbuzz.
On the other hand, he also spoke about the proposal he is set to make inthe upcoming ICC board meeting, scheduled next week in Dubai. Raja saidthat he will will be proposing a four-nation tournament between India,Pakistan, Australia, and England be conducted.
“I don’t know how the ICC members will receive it but how long can we allowourselves to be dictated by politics between countries? Star Sports hadmade a presentation at the last ICC board meeting where it said theIndia-Pakistan game at the Twenty20 World Cup broke all viewership records.Why don’t we have more of what the fans want?” he said.
